Eliphalet Adams come to New London as pastor of First Church. He was the son of the Rev. William Adams of Dedham, Massachusetts, and his first wife, Mary Manning. Eliphalet arrived in New London 20 Aug 1708, and was invited as Pastor 8 Sept 1708. In the invitation, the New London Church noted: "Mr. Adams is well accepted by the town for the ministry, and if he shall see cause to settle, we will do what is honorable for his settlement and support." Rev. Adams was ordained 9 Feb 1709; the man who preceded him in the New London pulpit, Gov. Gurden Saltonstall represented the Town of New London in those proceedings. Assisting ministers were Samuel Whiting, James Noyes and Timothy Woodbridge. -Chuck Plumb son of the Rev. William Adams and Mary Manning. He m.
