Elvin R. Hoffman, 60, 429 W. Walnut St., will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home. He died at 10 p.m. Friday at his residence after an illness of 12 years. Born in Silver Lake, June 28, 1923, he was the son of William and Eathel Drudge Hoffman. His mother survives in Akron. He was married Feb. 28, 1944 to Virginia R. (Shorty) Roderick, who survives. He was a Deacon in the First Baptist Church of Monticello. He was also a member of the White County Ministerial Association and the White County Memorial Hospital Chaplain's program. He was a former pastor of the Syracuse Church and the Idaville Church of God. He moved to Monticello in 1974 and was employed for 10 years at the Bassett Rotary Tool Company. He retired from that firm five years ago. Other survivors include two daughters, Diane Adams, Lafayette, and Linda Yeoman, Fort Wayne; two sons, Steve, West Demoines, Iowa, and Jim, Monticello; three brothers, Wayne, Earl and Edward, all of Akron; a sister, Emogene Daine, Akron, and seven grandchildren. The Revs. Alvin Rockey and Robert Flynn will officiate at the funeral. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. today. The family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Monticello.
