Description	:	The Rev. EUGENE RAY HARNE, 79, of Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Hancock, Md., passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown. Born Sept. 5, 1938, in Smithsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Lee G. Harne and Ruth L. (Willard) Harne. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Lou Olive (Kuhn) Harne, on Dec. 1, 2000. He was a 1956 graduate of Smithsburg High School. EUGENE RAY HARNE, 79, of Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Hancock, Md., passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown. Born Sept. 5, 1938, in Smithsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Lee G. Harne and Ruth L. (Willard) Harne. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Lou Olive (Kuhn) Harne, on Dec. 1, 2000. He was a 1956 graduate of Smithsburg High School. He was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God in Hagerstown. He was employed by Pangborn Corp. in Hagerstown, retiring in 2000, and was pastor of Hancock Church of God for about 40 years, retiring in 2007. He was a loving father, loved playing guitar and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. Eugene is survived by his second wife, Valerie (Clay) Harne; daughters, Kimberly L. Fritz, Lisa Salmon and Juli Haulman; son, Eric Harne; brothers, Donald, John, Paul and Howard Harne; sisters, Helen Dagenhart, Nancy Sell and Debbie Cadle; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Vicky Jean Harne, in 1965. Services will be held at Virginia Avenue Church of God, Hagerstown. Burial will be in Garfield United Methodist Church Cemetery.
