Description	:	Forest was a son of Richard "Dick" and Almarine Eaddy Ard. He was born in Johnsonville, Florence County, which at the time was part of Marion County. After the death of his father when Forrest was only 2, Almarine married Calvin Foxworth. He would grow up being raised by a foster father, Jasper Foxworth, but lived with his mother and Calvin at times. He was widowed three times. Read More	Forest was a son of Richard "Dick" and Almarine Eaddy Ard. He was born in Johnsonville, Florence County, which at the time was part of Marion County. After the death of his father when Forrest was only 2, Almarine married Calvin Foxworth. He would grow up being raised by a foster father, Jasper Foxworth, but lived with his mother and Calvin at times. He was widowed three times. First to Annie Jones, second to Emily Margaret Powell and lastly to Lula Bell. At the time of his death he was married to his fourth wife, Viola Watts. He had four sons and three daughters: Ben and Joe of Johnsonville; John of Georgetown; Hazard of Hemingway; Mrs J. Q. (Sena) Spells; Mrs. David (Emily Buena) White and Mrs. Lou (Sarah Lugene) McDaniel. In a newspaper article before his death, Forest said "he's not quite certain as to the exact number of his grandchildren or great-grandchildren. He has approximately 40 grandchildren and has never been able to get them all together at one time." He was a retired Free Will Baptist minister, farmer and timber cruiser. JOHNSONVILLE - The Rev. Forrest Sep Ard, 98 year old resident of Johnsonville community, died in the Johnson Memorial Hospital of Hemingway Sunday. Funeral services will take place at 4 p.m. Monday from the New Prospects Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Faircloth, the Rev, Alfred Miles, and the Rev. Hugh Fortson officiating. Burial, by Morris Funeral Home, will follow. He was a retired Freewill Baptist minister, a farmer and a timber cruiser. He was one of the oldest citizens of Florence County. The Rev. Ard was born in the Hannah community of Florence County Feb. 8, 1867. He was a son of the late Dick Ard and Mrs. Almarine Bartell Ard. He was a member of the New Prospect Freewill Baptist Church and the Durham Masonic Lodge 194, AFM, of Kingsburg. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Viola W. Thomas Ard; two daughters, Mrs. J. Q. Spell of Darlington and Mrs. David C. White of Pamplico; four sons, Hazard Ard of Hemingway, Joe S. Ard of Johnsonville, John Albert Ard of Georgetown and Ben F. Ard of Johnsonville; five stepsons, Robert Moore of Pamplico, Cecil B. Thomas of Charleston, John E. Thomas of Florence, Hilly Joe Thomas of Sugar Land, Tex., and David W. Thomas of Ruby; five step daughters, Mrs. Weldon Prosser and Mrs. Hubert Creel, both of Johnsonville, Mrs. Richard B. Morgan of Pensacola, Fla., Mrs. Henry L. Harrison of Greenville, and Mrs. Murray Thompson of Johnsonville; 34 grandchildren; 77 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.
