Survivors include his wife, Ione; a daughter, Sara Bonnett of Marion; a granddaughter, Stephanie Bonnett of Yucaipa, Calif.; two brothers, David (Idella) Shrope Sr. of Marion and Larry (Trudy) Shrope of Copparas Cove, Texas; and a sister, Leona Brundrett of Birch Tree, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Gloria Frances; two sons, Brian and Glenn; and a grandson, Mark Bonnett. Nick was born Feb. 27, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, at his maternal grandparents' (the Sturdivans) home, where his parents, J.H. and Blanche (Sturdivan) Shrope resided. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, then served in the National Guard, the Army Air Corps and the Civil Air Patrol. Nick and Ione Bonebrake were united in marriage on Oct. 24, 1942, in Lancaster, Mo. He received his formal training for the ministry from McPherson College and Bethany Seminary and his license from District Conference at Wartburg College. He was ordained at Robins Church of the Brethren, where he served as head pastor for 12 years. He was employed at Linkbelt Speeder for 15 years and retired from Square D in 1983, after 27 years of employment there. Nick organized the Masters Gospel Quartet in 1966 and traveled throughout Iowa. He was Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star.
