Description	:	Rev. F.C. Norman was born in Norway, June 13, 1862. He came to America with his parents in 1871 at the age of 8 years. Having early consecrated himself to the gospel ministry, he entered Augsburg Seminary at Minneapolis, and upon completing the course there, was ordained a minister of the United Norwegian church in 1892. His first pastorate was at Watertown, S.D., serving five congregations during the period 1892-1899. He then accepted a call to Brookings, (two congregations) and was pastor here until 1904. He was then called to Fosston, Minn., (four congregations) and served there until 1907.,... Read More	Rev. F.C. Norman was born in Norway, June 13, 1862. He came to America with his parents in 1871 at the age of 8 years. Having early consecrated himself to the gospel ministry, he entered Augsburg Seminary at Minneapolis, and upon completing the course there, was ordained a minister of the United Norwegian church in 1892. His first pastorate was at Watertown, S.D., serving five congregations during the period 1892-1899. He then accepted a call to Brookings, (two congregations) and was pastor here until 1904. He was then called to Fosston, Minn., (four congregations) and served there until 1907., in which year he was called to Seneca, Ill. (three congregations) where he remained until the call to the churches of Windom, Heron Lake and Brewster, Minnesota came in 1910. He served this pastorate until 1920. At the end of that time he took a year's rest which ended in a call from the Home Mission Board of the Southern Minnesota district to organize a congregation in the Lake Harriet district of Minneapolis. with untiring energy and sincerity, he worked hard until a congregation, The Morningside English Evangelical Lutheran church was organized February 17, 1922. He faithfully served this new congregation until his first stroke which occurred the 15th of August, 1923, while occupying the pulpit. He never fully recovered. As a result of his illness he resigned from the Morningside pastorate. He moved with his family, the following spring to Brookings, where he lived until his death January 1, 1925 at the age of 62 years, 6 months, 18 days. In the year 1895, he was united in marriage with Emma Olson, to which union were born five children: Mrs. A. Johs Bjorge, who passed away February 4, 1923, Clarissa, teaching in Minneapolis, Elsie, teaching in South St. Paul, Victor and Andrus at home. Rev. Norman was the last of a family of eight. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Lutheran church by Rev. B.A. Benson. Five pastors from neighboring towns: Rev. A.M. Mannes of Volga, Rev. Geo. Ulvilden of Toronto, Rev. Chr. Munson of Arlington, Rev. Sheaveland of Oldham and Rev. Kile of Bruce, were present at the services. Choirs of the Sterling church and Brookings Lutherean church furnished music. Burial was at the Lutheran cemetery. The community mourns the passing of this pioneer pastor and offers its sympathy to the bereaved family.
