Description	:	The Rev. Frederic Whipp Friday, D.D., the son of the Rev. John Milton Friday and Sarah Ellen (Whipp) Friday was born at Harper's Ferry, West Virginia on September 10, 1874. He received his preparatory training in Frederick, Maryland from, 1891-1893. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1897. He received his B.A. in 1897 and his M.A. in 1900. Frederic Whipp Friday, D.D., the son of the Rev. John Milton Friday and Sarah Ellen (Whipp) Friday was born at Harper's Ferry, West Virginia on September 10, 1874. He received his preparatory training in Frederick, Maryland from, 1891-1893. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1897. He received his B.A. in 1897 and his M.A. in 1900. He attended Gettysburg Theological Seminary 1897-1898. He graduated from the Philadelphia Seminary in 1900; ordained by the Ministerium of Pennsylvania in the same year. He served in the Pittsburgh Synod, 1900-1904. He served as the pastor of Zion Church, Olney, Philadelphia, Pa., 1904-1919. He was given a leave of absence to serve as a post chaplain at Camp Dix in the United States Army during World War I. He resigned as pastor of Zion Church, Olney, Philadelphia, Pa., in 1919 and continued to serve at Camp Dix until September 1921. On leaving the Armed Forces he assumed the pastorate of St. Paul's Church at Millville, New Jersey. In April 1927 he was called as registrar of the Philadelphia Seminary, serving in this office until his retirement in 1944. Since his retirement he served on a volunteer basis with the Board of Inner Missions of the Ministerium of Pennsylvania in the Philadelphia area. Gettysburg College conferred on him the degree of Doctor of Divinity. He entered eternal life on Monday, August 7, 1950 at the Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., aged 75 years. Funeral Services were conducted in the Church of the Ascension, on Wednesday, August 9, 1950 at 10:00 A.M. By his own special request, the sermon was omitted. The President of the Philadelphia Seminary, Rev. Paul J. Hoh, D.D. served as liturgist. The interment took place in the cemetery of St. Paul's Lutheran Church [note - incorrect, burial was in Jefferson Union], Jefferson, Maryland on the day of the funeral August 9. Also by special request the Rev. Dr. Russell D. Snyder officiated at the grave.
