Description	:	The Rev. F. H. Duerschner died Wednesday afternoon, December 29th, at 2:35 P.M., at Waverly, Iowa, two days after his eighty-second birthday, following a two-week illness of influenza. Frederick Henry Duerschner was born December 27th, 1861, at Galena, Illinois, the son of Conrad and Catharine (Hammerand) Duerschner. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed by his father, the Rev. Conrad Duerschner. Frederick Henry Duerschner was born December 27th, 1861, at Galena, Illinois, the son of Conrad and Catharine (Hammerand) Duerschner. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed by his father, the Rev. Conrad Duerschner. He entered the Wartburg College at Galena, Ill., and continued his theological work at Mendota, Ill., graduating from Wartburg Seminary in 1882. He accepted a rural charge at Talmage, Nebraska, when he was ordained July 30th of that year by President Rev. Hempeler. He served this congregation for 27 years. His son-in-law, the Rev. Walter Fleischmann, is pastor of this congregation, at this time. October 13th, 1886, he was united in marriage at Wilton, Iowa, with Sophia List, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. J. A. List, of Wilton. They were married over 57 years. He served other congregations as follows: Ionia-Bassett-Nashua, Iowa, parishes from 1909 to 1912; Waseca, Minn., from 1912 to the fall of 1923. He resigned the Waseca charge on account of ill health and spent the following years with his son, the Rev. Erwin Duerschner, in Sacramento, California, and a few months with his daughter, Mrs. Walter Fleischmann, then at Eaton, Colorado. He then accepted a charge at New Baltimore, Michigan, in January 1925, which he served until his retirement to Waverly, Iowa, in 1928. The Rev. Duerschner held the office of Secretary and later of President of the Northern District of the former Iowa Synod, and was for several years on the Board of Regents of Wartburg College at Waverly, Iowa. His widow and the following children survive: Mrs. Walter (Ottilie) Fleischmann of Talmage, Nebraska; Miss Clara Duerschner of Waseca, Minnesota; Mrs. Arlo (Ella) Allen of Milbank, South Dakota; Mrs. Emil (Hedwig) Ellwein of Freemen, South Dakota. Eleven grandchildren also survive, of whom four grandsons are in the service, to-wit: Pvt. Walter Craig, Camp Blanding, Florida; Pvt. Kurt Fleischman, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo; Staff Sgt. Victor Fleischmann, with the Fifth Army in Italy; Pvt. Arthur Duerschner, Camp Adair, Oregon. One sister and three brothers preceded him in death. His brother, the Rev. John Duerschner of Troy, N.Y., passed away three years ago. Funeral services were held at his home on New Years day at three o'clock in the afternoon and at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Waverly, Iowa, at 3:15 P.M. The Rev. O. Fangmeyer of Waverly was in charge of the service and the sermon was delivered by the Rev. Henry C. Neemann of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, where Pastor Duerschner, baptized, confirmed and ordained. He chose as his text, Luke 2:29-31.
