Funeral services were conducted at Golgotha Lutheran Church, Tuesday, Jan. 25. Burial was in the church cemetery. George Henry Pullmann was born in Wunstorf, Hannover, Germany, June 5, 1887. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed at the age of 14, after having received his elementary schooling and religious instruction in Germany. In May 1902, he came to America, returning to Germany in December 1903. He returned to America in April 1904, where he worked for his brother in Delmont, S.D. In 1906 he began his studies at Concordia Seminary, Springfield, Ill. His vicarage year was spent in Higgens (now Gurley). During his last year at the seminary, he served as relief pastor for Rev. A. Ollenberg at Bloomfield from December to February. His first call after graduation was to Stanford, S.D., where he was installed as pastor, Aug. 13, 1911. He also served three neighboring parishes and taught parochial school until 1919. He was married, August 14, 1912 to Hilda Louise Bender of Westgate, Ia. From Stanford, he went to Fairfax, S.D., serving that pastorate and two other congregations until 1925. He was installed as pastor of Golgotha Lutheran Church, Dec. 5, 1926. He served longer there than at any other place, sharing the days of the Depression with the members of Golgotha Lutheran congregation. In 1946, he went to Hunter, Kan., in 1949 to Gurley, where he had served his vicarage. He remained at On Gurley until 1953, when he accepted a call to a small rural church near Friona, Tex, where he was installed, August 2. On Dec. 4, 1954, he suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized at Friona. After rallying somewhat, he and his wife went to Kansas to make their home with a son, but he passed away about a week later. ...The Creighton News 3 Feb 1955 ...obituary provided by G. Neuhaus
