Description	:	ST LOUIS MO - Rev. Gerold R. Martin, 93, formerly of Racine, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2000. He was the loving husband of 57 years to Dorothy A. (nee: Streich) Martin. Rev. Martin graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1932. He gave of himself in over 60 years of teaching and preaching ministry. During his tireless service, Grace Church gave birth to... Read More	ST LOUIS MO - Rev. Gerold R. Martin, 93, formerly of Racine, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2000. He was the loving husband of 57 years to Dorothy A. (nee: Streich) Martin. Rev. Martin graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1932. He gave of himself in over 60 years of teaching and preaching ministry. He came to Racine in 1953 and served as Principal of Racine Lutheran High School until 1957 when he assumed pastoral duties at Grace Lutheran Church until he retired in 1982. During his tireless service, Grace Church gave birth to a daughter congregation, Chapel of the Cross, and had brought more than a dozen of her sons into church ministry. Rev. Martin continued teaching for more than 10 years after his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of St. Louis, Mo.; five sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Marlene of Racine, Rev. James and Carol of North Royalton, Ohio, David and Beth of Hillsboro, Mo., Richard and Dawn of Clinton, and Peter and Nancy of Brussels, Belgium; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Philip of Mayville. Pastor Martin was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 3700 Washington Avenue, on Saturday morning, October 28, 2000, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family at Grace Lutheran Church on Friday from 3 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9 until 10 a.m. Memorials to the Racine Lutheran High School or Grace Lutheran Church-Special Funds have been suggested.
