Description	:	Robert was the son of Archie J. & Almeda (Clark) Gibbs. He attended Western Michigan College, taking an Industrial Arts course, and where he was instrumental in starting an Intervarsity Fellowship Organization. This was followed by one term at Wheaton College. Uncle Sam then called, and he served in the signal Corp during WWII, spending most of that time in Chunking, China. Read More	Robert was the son of Archie J. & Almeda (Clark) Gibbs. After discharge from the Navy, he finished his degree at MSU. Robert married Pauline Good on Aug. 19, 1944, just before leaving for overseas duty. He was a minister in the United Brethren in Christ Church, serving in several churches (Eden, Woodland, Housel, Caledonia, Lowell and Dutton)in mid-Michigan. During this time he attended Hungtington College (University) and received his degree in Theology. He was ordained in 1954. He was very active in the Michigan Christian Endeavor for many many years. As an electrical engineer, he worked in Sunfield, Lansing and Jackson. After retirement, he and his wife volunteered as missionaries in Macau, China 3 times. Their main job was assisting in the English Language program and helping in the business office. But he always enjoyed interacting with the people. They were active in the Kiwanis organization. In later years he struggled with Parkinson's disease and with heart disease. For 39 years they were members of the First United Brethren Church in Lansing, where both Robert and Pauline were very active in many aspects of the work of the Church. Robert always had the church at heart...the building, the people, the congregations, the denomination, the body of Christ, and church outreach. And he is now spending eternity with the Head of that Church, Christ Jesus, the Lord, and Son of God. Funeral service was held at the United Brethren Church in Lansing on Thursday. Interment service, with military honors, was at Holy Corners Cemetery in Caledonia, MI. Memorials were to the First United Brethrn Church or to Global Ministries of the United Brethren Church. Robert and Pauline had 4 children, Phil, Archie, Jane and Karen; and 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ross (Hilda), Keith (Delphine), Russell (Anny) and sister Barbara (Larry) Jones.
