Description	:	John, 87, of Hastings, Michigan, was a good man of God, who was called to heaven on Wednesday, March 25th, 2015. He was born to the late John and Lena (Rudiger) Heer. John was known to most by his middle name, Franklin, he graduated from Marion College in 1951 and the University of Kansas in 1971, married Sallie Doris Maples on June 15th, 1951 in Portland, Oregon, and together raised 3 children. Read More	John, 87, of Hastings, Michigan, was a good man of God, who was called to heaven on Wednesday, March 25th, 2015. He was born to the late John and Lena (Rudiger) Heer. John was known to most by his middle name, Franklin, he graduated from Marion College in 1951 and the University of Kansas in 1971, married Sallie Doris Maples on June 15th, 1951 in Portland, Oregon, and together raised 3 children. Franklin and Sallie would spend their lives in service to God. The Heers were missionaries to Colombia, South America from 1958-1968. In 1971, he began his work at Brainerd Indian School, near Hot Springs, South Dakota, were he taught school for two years, then became principal for two years and president for five years. After that they moved to Hobe Sound Bible College in Florida where Franklin and Sallie both taught in the academy there. Brother and Sister Heer again went to the foreign field as missionaries, this time to the Philippines in 1986-1987, they then would settle in Brownsville, TX, teaching in the Brownsville Public School system until retirement. Franklin and Sallie lived in their lovely Brownsville home that Franklin helped build with his own hands; for more than 25 years. In September of 2014, the Heers made the move to Hastings, Michigan where they have attended the Missionary Bible Church and continued faithfully serving the Lord and were a blessing to family and friends. Franklin Heer’s life was an example of Godly living and was a testimony to the wonderful saving and sanctifying of God. He will be missed. May the Lord multiply his kind. Besides his parents, Rev. Heer was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo Heer and Archie Heer; two sisters; Ila Heer and Mary Heer Friebel. Surviving are his wife, Sallie; children, Stephen (Loretta) of Houston, TX, Gail (Bob) Dyal of Sunfield, Michigan, Time (Jane) Dryer, Wyoming; grandchildren, Kristi, Zachary, Chad, Daylin, Daniel, Michael, Patricia, Elana and Chloe; great grandchildren, Jessica, Blake, Kristen, Jacob and Luke; and of course many, many friends from far and near. Funeral Services were held on Saturday March 28, 2015 at the Lauer Family Funeral Home- Wren Chapel Hastings.
