His wife, son and daughter were with him; his brother, Rev. George Croker, of Whitting, Ia., arriving just after life had gone. John Croker was born May 6, 1859, in Devonshire, England. He came to the United States in the spring of 1885. He had been a local preacher for the Primitive Methodists for six years in England, and on coming to America joined the Congregational Church, taking a college and theological course at Wheaton, Ill. His Congregational pastorates were as follows: in Iowa--Cincinnati 1888 to 1890; Green Mountain 1890 to 1894; Kingsley 1894 to 1896; Golden 1896 to 1898; Lake View 1898 to 1900. In Nebraska: Grant 1900 to 1904; Bertrand 1904 to 1908; Exeter 1908 to 1913; Clay Center May 27, 1913, until he passed to his eternal reward. The funeral services were conducted at Clay Center on Monday afternoon, July 31 by Rev. N. L. Packard of Liberty, an old friend of some thirty years standing. A fine delegation of Exeter friends were present. The generous display of flowers and large attendance gave evidence of the high respect in which he was held. Rev. John Croker was dearly loved by his parishioners and admired for his spirit of consecration and pulpit ability. A large number of both ministers and laymen will sincerely mourn his loss. Besides his wife; Vincent and Ethel, he leaves three brothers; Rev. George Croker at Whitting, Ia., (where he was buried), one in England and another in Australia.
