(The Gazette, Cedar Rapids, IA; 21 Oct 1905) John was graduated from the Grandview Academy in 1873, after which he attended McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, from which he was graduated in 1876. He was ordained to Presbyterian ministry that same year by the Presbytery of Nebraska City in Nebraska. He was pastor of the Presbyterian Church in West Point, Nebraska 1877-1878. From there he pastored a congregation in Illinois (1879-1882), after which he returned to Iowa to pastor a congregation in Troy (1882-1884), Newton (1886-1887), Pleasant Plain (1888), and Laurel (1889-1890). Then he became a teacher in Newton, Iowa (1891-1893). He died in 1904. (The content of the foregoing paragraph was taken from the History of the Presbyterian Church in Iowa 1837-1900 by Rev.
