Born in Hickory, N.C., he was a son of the late John and Daisy Mae Healon Moose. He received and honorary doctor of Divinity from Newberry College and retired as pastor of Our Father Lutheran Church of Greensboro, N.C. He was former pastor with St. Jacob's Parish of Chapin and St. John Lutheran Church of Clinton. He was a former mission developer in Charlotte, Organizer of Atonement Lutheran Church of Laurens, Reformation Lutheran Church of Lancaster and Faith Lutheran Church of Newberry, organizer and former pastor of St. Timothy Lutheran Church of Camden. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Hamilton Moose; sons John Moose of Lutz, Fla., and William Moose of Lexington; a daughter, Jane Marts of Wilmington; a brother, Ralph Moose of Windy Hill; a sister, Elizabeth Gray of Charlotte; and six grandchildren.
