Edwards. The late Mr. Edwards was born in Clarke County, Iowa, December 25, 1855. In early life he moved to Decatur County where in 1876 he was married to Miss Emmeline Brown. Eleven children resulted from this union, of whom three died in infancy. There remains to mourn his loss, a widow, three sons, Leonard of Sorum, S.D., Byron of Mooswa, Emmett of Wetaskiwin, and five daughters, Mrs. Martha Conwell of Daniel, Wyo., Mrs. Iva Redman of Wetaskiwin, Mrs. Juanita Jackson of Mooswa, Mrs. Emma Pulkrabek of Edmonton, and Miss Iein of St. Paul de Metis; his brothers Tom and John of Grand River, Iowa, Charlie of Atlanta, Missouri, Frank of Mitchel, S.D., and two sisters, Jennie Adams of Summerset, Iowa, and Molly Kehler, of Mitchel, S.D. In 1887 Mr. Edwards was ordained a minister of the Missionary Baptist church which he served continuously until within a few months of his death. For many years he was Moderator of the East Grand River Baptist association, and during that period was the receipient of many tokens of esteem. The greater part of his life was spent in Iowa, but in 1912 he came to Alberta where he spent his remaining years. About three years ago he developed cancer of a malignant type, since which he has been a great sufferer. Medical relief was sought at a Cancer Sanatorium in Savannah, Mo., where he underwent treatment for more that two years, returning to Alberta about four weeks ago. Although he made a strong fight for life he realized that he had come home to die. All but one of his children were privileged to be with him in his last days. Though hardly able to endure the pain which he was called upon to bear, his faith in God was unshaken and his spirit rose in such songs as "Jesus Saviour, Pilot Me", "Must Jesus Bear the Cross Along", and "Life's Railway to Heaven." The funeral service was conducted on Saturday from the Methodist church, where a large gathering of friends and acquaintances assembled to pay their last respects. The Rev. Mr. Irwin who conducted the service, who spoke on the Christian's hope of the large life of Eternity, he referred to the passion of the soul of the minister, who appreciated fights, the battle of a sinful world, and sought to pay a fitting tribute to the life that had been lived with a minister's ideals. ***** Ancestry shows parents as Abel Edwards (1819-1891) and Elizabeth "Eliza" Jane Parkey (1834-1905)
