Description	:	Rev. Louis Theodore Ernst, son of the Rev. Louis Ernst, Sr., and Mrs. Louise Ernst, nee Louise Piel, was born Dec. 26, in the year 1884, at Walburg, Texas. Soon after his birth, he was baptized by his father in the Lutheran Church at Walburg, Texas. When Louis was five years old, his father accepted a call to Lincoln, Texas. Read More	Rev. Louis Theodore Ernst, son of the Rev. Louis Ernst, Sr., and Mrs. Louise Ernst, nee Louise Piel, was born Dec. 26, in the year 1884, at Walburg, Texas. Soon after his birth, he was baptized by his father in the Lutheran Church at Walburg, Texas. When Louis was five years old, his father accepted a call to Lincoln, Texas. At this place Louis received his Christian and elementary education. Here he was also confirmed by his father at the age of fourteen years. After remaining at home for two years and having the desire to serve the Lord in His vineyard as; a minister, he entered St. John's College at Winfield, Kans., in the year of 1900. In February, 1902, Louis received the sad message of the sudden death of his mother. He, however, resumed his studies and graduated from St. John's in 1906. In the fall of the same year, he entered Concordia Seminary, at St. Louis, Mo. After his graduation from the Seminary, he followed a call to a parish in Chase County, composed of, the congregations at Imperial, Champion, and Wauneta. In 1912, St. John's congregation, at McCook, called him as their pastor. In 1913, he was united in holy wedlock with Adelia Aufdenkamp, of Juniata. This union was blessed with four children. After serving the McCook congregation for a number of years, he was called to Wathena, Kans. From this place, the St. Peter's congregation of Davenport, Nebr., called him in 1939. This congregation he served faithfully until the Master called him home, Sunday, Sept. 19, at about 2:30 p.m. He attained an age of 52 years, 8 months, and 23 days. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adelia, in 1931; by their daughter, Vera, in 1914 ; also by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. He leaves to mourn his departure, three children Darlene, Louis Jr. and Lemira; Miss Mathilda Harms, to whom he was engaged to be married in the near future; his stepmother, Mrs. L. Ernst, of Juniata, Nebr., and the following brothers and sisters: Walter Ernst, of Grand Island, Nebr.; Mrs. Frieda Bangert, of Staplehurst, Nebr.; David Ernst, of Hebron, Nebr.; Rev. Paul Ernst, of Lewiston, Montana; Ella Ernst, of St. Louis, Mo.; Rev. Theodore Ernst, of Somerset, Pa.; Mrs. Renata Kort, of Blue Hill, Nebr.; Mrs. Clara Koepke, of Ayr, Nebr.; Mrs. Agnes Rodenburg, of St. Louis, Mo.; seven brother-in laws, six sisters-in-laws, St. Peters congregation of Davenport and Bethlehem congregation at Kiowa, which he was serving as vacancy pastor; also many other Relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at Davenport, with the Rev. Theo. Droegemueller, of Friedensau, conducting the services in the home, and the Rev. Wm. Nau, of Tobias, and the Rev. F. Falkenroth, of Beatrice, delivering the English and German sermons respectively at the service in St. Peter's Lutheran Church. The Rev.Nau chose as his text Matt. 25:21, and the Rev. Falkenroth based his sermon on Jer. 29:11. The Rev. Droegemueller also read the obituary and donations to the Memorial Wreath. After these services the body was taken to Juniata, Nebr., with a large procession of relatives and friends following. Here services were conducted in the afternoon in Zion Lutheran Church, A. W. Wilk, pastor. The Rev. Wm. Peters of Hastings, preached an English sermon, and the Rev. A. J. C. Moeller, of Grand Island, president of the southern Nebraska district of the Missouri synod, delivered an address basing his remarks on Hebr. 11:1. The mixed choir and a male quartet of Davenport sang songs of comfort at both services. The school children at Juniata also sang. Interment was made next to his wife in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Juniata. About sixty ministers, brethren in the office of the deceased, from various places in Nebraska, were in attendance.
