Mr. Kelly was 47 years of age. The funeral services [were]conducted by presiding elder Cauthen at Bethel Church at 11:30 o'clock (March 2). Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery. Dr. Kelly was one of the strongest and most popular preachers of the Methodist conference. He was born March 21, 1865, and was a son of Rev. John W. Kelly, for many years a leader in the South Carolina conference, and Mrs. Anna Wilbur Kelly. He received his collegiate training at Newberry College and then spent two years in the study of law. Changing his lefe plans, however, he joined the South Carolina conference in 1889 and has served churches in Jonesville, Greer, Denmark, Greenville, Anderson, Greenwood and Clemson College. At the last session of the conference he was appointed conference missionary secretary and moved to Spartanburg as headquarters. About the 1st of January he had a severe case of grip, and since then has gradually declined in strength until the end came. note: Obit. The State. Columbia SC. 3.2.1912
