Combs, who died suddenly at his home at Mabel, on April 26 was a man whom the county and especially his own neighbors could ill afford to lose. He was a local minister of the M. E. Church and was invaluable as a Sunday School Superintendent, which position he had filled for nearly forty years. Quiet and unobtrusive, he pursued the even tenor of his way, caring not for the plaudits of the world, each succeeding day found him, pressing on in the line of duty." He was always at his post whenever needed. Oh! the beauty of such lives! Who can estimate their value or sum of the good influences set in motion by such a life that will widen and deepen while years go by. Truly a good man has fallen and one whose death is sincerely regretted. "He is a good man,' was said by all who knew him, while he lived and we place the same tribute to his memory, as he is gone.
