We are grateful that his kind neighbor and dear friend, Ed noticed that his garage doors were open unusually early and called us. We found him kneeling by his recliner moments after that, his spirit already departed "to be with Christ which is far better!" Palmer, was lovingly called Home to be with his Lord and Savior, whom he faithfully served for many years on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. We are grateful that his kind neighbor and dear friend, Ed noticed that his garage doors were open unusually early and called us. We found him kneeling by his recliner moments after that, his spirit already departed "to be with Christ which is far better!" He is where he wanted to be, with the Lord and reunited with his beloved wife, Muriel, and daughter, Joy, and countless loved ones and friends. He was born on June 5, 1927, in Fort Fairfield, Maine, the son of Otto E. and Francena (Finnemore) Palmer. Otto was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1945. He married his high school sweetheart, Muriel Mae Stevens, on August 28, 1948. The Rev. George A. DeLong performed the ceremony at the Reformed Baptist Parsonage in Fort Fairfield, Maine. He attended Bethany Bible College in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, for a year, but was called home to help his Mom and be with his Dad, who was dying with cancer. He continued his studies with National Bible College in Wichita, Kansas, majoring in Bible and Theology through correspondence courses. In his early years of ministry, Otto was very involved in Youth Work as a teacher, sports director, including horseback riding and camp preacher. He also conducted evangelistic services as evangelist, song leader, choir director and soloist. Otto and Muriel dedicated their lives to full-time Christian service and served Maine and New Hampshire Churches mostly associated with the American Baptist denomination. He pastored in East Dixfield, Littleton, Tenants Harbor, East Ridge Community Church in Mars Hill, Woodland and then was ordained on November 27, 1964, at the United Baptist Church in Milo, Maine. Following Milo, he pastored in Lee, Maine, Laconia, NH, where he had a radio program and jail ministry. He then pastored in Easton, Maine, Loudon, NH and returned to Woodland, ME once again, and finally Washburn Baptist Church. He retired 3 times! His last few years he ministered still to countless people and was a true prayer warrior and encourager. Otto was predeceased by his parents, Otto E. and Francena Palmer; his two sisters and their husbands, Ken and Virginia Libby, and Rev. Ray and Ruth Gillies; his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Muriel on May 3, 2018; and his daughter, Joy E. Palmer Davis on June 2, 2009; his sister-in-law and husband, Helen and Leo Moirs; and brother-in-law, Robert Black. He is survived by his only son, the Rev. Larry O. Palmer and his wife, Rebecca of Presque Isle; one brother-in-law and wife, Robert and Thelma Stevens of Ocala, FL; one sister-in-law and husband, Betty and Mervyn Libby of Ocala, FL; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Black of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Garrel Craig and his wife, Judy, of Brewer, ME; Denise Davis Tyree and her husband, Jason, of Forest, VA; and Derek Davis and his wife, Lauren, of Forest, VA; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor and Rachel Craig of Brewer, ME; Dean and Lexi Tyree of Forest, VA; Farrah and Tyler Mock of Roanoke, VA; Ava, Luke and Azi Davis of Forest, VA; numerous nieces and nephews including Starr and George Walker; Tim and Lesa Libby; Paul and Lois Libby of Texas; Ruth and Dan Doughty of Maine; Bill and Nancy Gillies of Maine; and Nancy and Dave Kreller of Florida, and their families. He is also survived by a dear friend, Kathy Belmain who attended Caribou United Baptist Church with him, and often went out for Sunday dinner and a drive since Muriel's passing. Otto's wishes were to be cremated and a graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, Maine, on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Larry O. Palmer officiating. Those who wish may contribute in memory of the Rev. Otto L. Palmer to Calvary Baptist Church, Westfield, ME, care of: the Rev. Larry Palmer, P.O.
