Description	:	He was the son of John Peabody and Mary Head. He married #1 Mary Hazelton on Jan. 19, 1773. He married #2 Elizabeth Smith (widow of Rev. John Shaw) on Dec. 8, 1795 in Atkinson, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire. tombstone inscription: "Rev. Stephen Peabody died May 23, 1819 in his 78 year He was ordained the first minister in this town Nov 25, 1772 and until his death sustained the office with dignity, possessed the love and confidence of his people and ardently sought the interest of his charge and of mankind.
