In spite of ill health which had kept Mr. Whaley from many of his accustomed activities during the past two years, he had preached on Sunday at Johnson's Chapel, about eight miles from Georgetown and seemed in good spirits and usual health until after retiring Sunday night. Read More	Georgetown Times March 18, 1932 Rev. W. H. Whaley Death came to Rev. W. H. Whaley at his home in Georgetown early Monday morning. Partially paralyzed by a slight stroke last July it is believed that Mr. Whaley's death was due to a petitioner of the stroke. Mr. Whaley was born in Marion County, SC., February 22, 1883. As a young man he character was developing toward a strong and manly spirit known to us in his last years. He attended the common schools and an academy at Hartsville. Later his theological training was continued at the Baptist Seminary at Louisville Kentucky. Entering the ministry of the Southern Baptist CHurch, Mr. Whaley served churches in South Carolina as pastor for over twenty five years. After pastorates at Andrews, Blaney, Lexington, Newberry and Spartanbury he left the active pastorate and returned to Georgetown. Here he was engaged in supply work, always will to assist wherever his services were needed. Mr. Whaley married Mrs. Mary Harrelson Bunch of Georgetown County who precded him in death. Of this union the following children survive; Mrs. James W. Cain, Spartanburg; Mrs. W. B. Woodhouse, Poplar Branch NC, Misses Grace and Julia Rose Whaley, William, Derieux, and Hamilton Whaley, all of Georgetown. About a year ago he married Miss Helen Lawrimore of Georgetown, who survives him. He leaves the following brothers and sisters C. E. Whaley of Fairbluff; D. E. Whaley of Florence; Mrs. W. H. Thompson and Mrs. H. B. Jones, Gresham.
