Read More	Spokesman-Review, The (Spokane, WA) - Saturday, May 31, 2008 FUNKHOUSER, Rex Rex Funkhouser died May 18, 2008 after a brief illness at his home in Spokane, with his family by his side. Rex was born to Mildred and Lawrence Funkhouser, November 17th 1930. He is survived by his wife Pat to whom he was married 44 years; his daughters Terry Goldman of Klamath Falls, Cindy Funkhouser of Las Vegas, Lori Funkhouser-King of Spokane, Lisa Funkhouser-Obrien of Spokane; his grandsons Jason Osgerby, David King, andRiley King; and his sisters Vivian Wood, Carole Cole, Connie Perrin. Rex was an honored veteran who joined the Marines at the age of 16 years. He had served his country four years by the time he was 20 years old. He was sent to Korea and served with Easy Co. at the Chosin Reservoir Hill 1282 where he was wounded and one of only 30 who survived of 176 men. Rex continued to serve his country in the Marines, Navy, and Air Force retiring from the reserves as a Master Sergeant. He was an electrician, inventor, and all round Mr. Fix It. He could fix anything, and just instinctively new how things worked. He worked for the Nevada Test Site for 19 years as an electrician, before retiring to spend more time with his family. Rex was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was very involved in his grandchildren's lives. He lived by the phrase, "everything will work itself out" and when he said that you knew it would. He was always easy with a joke or a smile and will be missed by all who knew him, but most of all by his family who he spent his life caring for. The memorial service will be held in Whiting, Iowa where Rex will be laid to rest along side his mother and father. Contributor: af (47059011)
