Description	:	Rex Ralph Brown, 88, of Mt. Pleasant died early Friday morning, April 14, 2006, at Park Place in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Brown was born July 3, 1917 near Denova (northwest of Salem). He was the son of Charlie and Retta (Smith) Brown. He received his formal education at the country school of Denova and the Mt. Pleasant School System. Read More	Rex Ralph Brown, 88, of Mt. Pleasant died early Friday morning, April 14, 2006, at Park Place in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Brown was born July 3, 1917 near Denova (northwest of Salem). He was the son of Charlie and Retta (Smith) Brown. He received his formal education at the country school of Denova and the Mt. Pleasant School System. On December 3, 1942 at the Wesley Chapel parsonage in Mt. Pleasant, Rex was united in marriage to Meta Moyle. Rex farmed for a while on a farm northeast of Mt. Pleasant that adjoined his father Charlie's farm, and then farmed in the Pleasant Lawn area. In 1952 Rex and his family moved to a farm in the Denova area, where he farmed for 46 years. In 1998, Rex retired and he and Meta moved to Mt. Pleasant. Farming was not only Rex's occupation, but his love of the land changed his occupation into his hobby and passion. Rex was a member of the Cedar Creek Friends Church. He had also taught Sunday School at the Salem Friends Church. For over 20 years, Rex was the treasurer and secretary of the Cedar Creek Cemetery from 1976 to 2004. Rex served on the School Boards of the Pleasant Lawn School District and the Maple Grove School. He was survived by his wife of 63 years, Meta of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Ralph Brown of Dallas Center and Gary Brown of Mediapolis (and his wife Marlene Belzer); a daughter Mary Ann Brown of Burlington; two granddaughters, Jennifer Crull (and her husband Matthew) and Joni Brown, all of Mt. Pleasant; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Pearl Crull. His parents, his brother Donald Brown, and his sister Dorothy (Brown) Kerr Chatham preceded him in death.
