Holzhauser, 92, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 3:12 a.m. January 2, 2015, at the Warrensburg Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was born February 19, 1922, in Farson, Iowa, to Dan and Lydia Harkins Holzhauser. He married Clara Lorene Warner on July 20, 1941. She preceded him in death on May 28, 1997. He was born February 19, 1922, in Farson, Iowa, to Dan and Lydia Harkins Holzhauser. He married Clara Lorene Warner on July 20, 1941. She preceded him in death on May 28, 1997. A graduate of Farson High School, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked at John Morrell & Co. for 43 years. He was a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, and playing bingo at the Izaak Walton League. Surviving are a son, Roger Holzhauser of Warrensburg, Missouri; two grandchildren, Dan Holzhauser of Missouri and Julie (Dale) Ruble of Ottumwa; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold V. "Harley" Holzhauser and a sister, Mildred Crady. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will be present at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. A memorial has been established to O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
