Read More	AN AGED RESIDENT Mrs. Rhoda B. Stedman, Dies at Her Home Friday Afternoon. Mrs. Rhoda Barker Stedman, one of the oldest residents of Athens, died Friday afternoon at her home on Congress street, after an illness of about one week. On the Sunday before her death, though not in the best of health, she was able to be about, and visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Porter. As a result of the exposure she caught a severe cold which soon developed into a critical attack of pneumonia. The progress of the affliction could not be staid and death resulted Friday afternoon. The deceased was seventy-nine years of age, having been born near Athens on November 26, 1820. She was the daughter of Andrew and Rhoda Glass. She was married in 1839 to William S. Stedman whose death occurred last October. Of the three children born, only one survives, Mrs. Julia E. Arscott, at whose home Mrs. Stedman’s death occurred. Besides her daughter she leaves one sister, Mrs. Tryfena Smith, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at her late home, conducted by Rev. Cyrus Rose, and was attended by a large number of friends and relatives. Interment took place at the new cemetery.
