Read More	Rhoda Dorothy Hutchins Till, 93, of Orangeburg, SC passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Oaks. The family will receive friends at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Dorothy was born December 9, 1920, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She was the only, much-loved daughter of the late Shelley Martin Hutchins and Lily Marie Thomas Hutchins. She was a loving member of Orangeburg First Baptist Church, where she held membership in the Dorcas Loyalty Sunday School class, the Golden Fellowship group, and the Golden Singers. Dorothy lived through the Great Depression and survived two severe bouts of diphtheria as a child. She attended grade school and high school in Orangeburg and graduated from Winthrop College where she majored in business. She worked in Charleston for a while and then joined the National Farm Loan Association in Orangeburg where she worked for many years. She married Reverend Ernest Lloyd Till (who preceded her in death exactly 8 years to the day) in 1950 in the Orangeburg First Baptist Church where the ceremony was performed by the Reverend Dr. Roy McClain. Dorothy served faithfully with her husband in the churches throughout the state where he was pastor by working in various capacities in the Women's Missionary Union, teaching Sunday School and Training Union, working in Vacation Bible School every summer, and using her beautiful alto voice in the church choirs. Additionally, she greatly enjoyed working with children and was a much-sought-after substitute teacher in the Saluda County schools during the 1970s. Survivors include her daughter Dr. Sharon Marie Till White, son-in-law Rev. David F. White, III, granddaughter Shellie Marie White of Hawaii, brother-in-law Lewis T. Till, one niece Connie Goff , two nephews Dr. Traywick Till and Ricky Till, a beloved first cousin Betty Bessinger Roberts, and a number of other beloved cousins.
