Description	:	Mrs. George Riley Beckwith died at her home in east Corning, Thursday, July 24, 1913, aged 62 years, 3 months, and 29 days. The funeral services were held Sunday, July 27, 1913, at the Adams County First Baptist Church, in Washington Township, conducted by Rev. Lew C. Harris, pastor of the Christian Church of Ames, Iowa. Rev. Mr. Harris being an old friend of the family, who had known Mrs. Beckwith from his childhood. Interment was made in the Baptist Church. Rhoda Elinda Hoagland was born in Athens County, Ohio on March 25, 1851. When a small child she moved with her parents to Louisa County, Iowa. In her early girlhood she and her parents came to Montgomery County, thence to Marion County, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to George Riley Beckwith May 3, 1872. In company with her husband, she came to Adams County, Iowa in 1887, settling near Mt. Etna and from there they came to Corning in 1905, where she resided until her death. Mrs. Beckwith with her husband united with the Christian Church at Pleasantville, Iowa, some 30 years ago and she retained her religious belief until death. She was especially tender in her ministrations toward the needy and the distressed, having a kind word for every one. She was devoted to her home and family. Mrs. Beckwith leaves a husband and six children to mourn her loss, three children having preceded her to the better land. The living children are Mrs. Albert Eno, Corning, Asahel Beckwith, Fielding, Saskatchewan, Canada; Cecil Beckwith, Mount Etna; Mrs. Guy Lytton, Corning; Mrs. Chas Brown, Corning, and Miss Beulah, who is still at home. She also leaves four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Sarah Dill, Augusta, Kansas; J. M. Hoagland, Corning; Nelson Hoagland, Wichita, Kansas, Mrs. D. C. Phillips, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; Mrs. James Cummings, Manhattan, Montana; Mrs. Elliott Voorhees, Villisca, Iowa and a wide circle of friends and relatives.
