In the 1910 Census for Van Buren County, Iowa, which was enumerated April 19, 1910, Rhoda McVeigh was living with her parents. Charley S. Alexander married Geraldine P. McVey in 1912 in Adams County, Illinois. When Charlie Sider Alexander completed his World War I Draft Registration card on September 12, 1918, in Moline, Illinois, he filled in his nearest relative's name as Mrs. Geraldine Alexander.... I do not know if Rhoda was going by Geraldine at that time, or if this is another marriage for Charles to another lady. In the 1920 Census for Moline, Illinois, Charlie and Rhoda Alexander are living with a 15 year old son, Lloyd. It's possible that Lloyd was Charles' son by a previous marriage, but I do not find either one of them before this 1920 census record. Rhoda's obituary stated that Lloyd was her surviving son, so I requested that he be linked to her. --------------- Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," January 18, 1928: MRS. RHODA ALEXANDER Mrs. Rhoda Alexander, wife of Charles Alexander, died at the residence, 1002 South Hancock street, this morning, after a lingering illness. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Lloyd of Moline and Bernard of Ottumwa. Her mother, Mrs. Inez Lyons [sic] also survives, as do six sisters, Mrs. Lola Dorothy of Ft. Madison; Mrs. Mabel Horne, Mrs. Helen Ringland of Ottumwa; Mrs. Stella E. Willis of Chenoa, Ill.; Mrs. Zenith Block of Fairfield, and Mrs. Nina Turner of Lockridge, and two brothers, Harry and Sam Lyons [sic] of Bentonsport. Funeral services will be held from the home of her sister, Mrs. Horne, 422 Gray street, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Rev. W.G. Ramsay of the First Congregational church will be in charge and interment will be made in Shaul cemetery.
