Schinck was born on August 30, 1916 in Creation, NE to Roy and Lulu (Prescott) Van Meter. The family moved to Philip, SD in the early 1930's. In the late 1930's, they moved to Lynch, NE. Rhoda and her brother Aaron moved to Lake Andes, SD and started a creamery station which they owned and operated until Aaron went into military service. Schinck, 98, of Lake Andes died at Lake Andes Healthcare Center on Friday, June 19, 2015. Rhoda M. Schinck was born on August 30, 1916 in Creation, NE to Roy and Lulu (Prescott) Van Meter. The family moved to Philip, SD in the early 1930's. In the late 1930's, they moved to Lynch, NE. Rhoda and her brother Aaron moved to Lake Andes, SD and started a creamery station which they owned and operated until Aaron went into military service. She married Fred Kilts and traveled with him to most of the dam sites on the Missouri River. They settled back in Lake Andes in the early 1950's. Fred died in 1964. Rhoda married Leonard Schinck on April 2, 1968. They moved to Navoto, CA until 1969 when they transferred to Fortuna, ND. In 1976 she moved to San Anglo, TX while Leonard attended college. They then went to Italy for two and a half years. They returned to the US where they spent a year at Altus, OK while Leonard finished his career in the Air Force. They moved to Lake Andes in 1980 where they still reside. Rhoda had various jobs throughout her many years of traveling which included being a waitress, baby-sitter, general house laborer, cleaning hotels, working at the Lake Andes Healthcare Center and Lake Andes Clinic. She was a devoted housewife and kept busy with her crafts quilts, rugs, and other crafts. She enjoyed craft fairs. She died at Lake Andes Healthcare Center in Lake Andes on Friday, June 19, 2015 at the age of 98. Rhoda is survived by her husband, Leonard of Lake Andes, SD and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Fred, and two brothers, Aaron and Byron.
