BELLIS Rhoda Margaret Bellis was born in Page County, Iowa October 15, 1860, and passed away at 9 a.m. November 6, 1934, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Perkins in the same county in which she was born, aged 74 years and 21 days. She was married on February 7, 1878 to John W. Bellis at Red Oak, Iowa, and for a little over 50 years they dwelt together, 30 of those years in Monona County, where their children were born and raised and were the best years of their labor were spent. BELLIS Rhoda Margaret Bellis was born in Page County, Iowa October 15, 1860, and passed away at 9 a.m. November 6, 1934, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Perkins in the same county in which she was born, aged 74 years and 21 days. She was married on February 7, 1878 to John W. Bellis at Red Oak, Iowa, and for a little over 50 years they dwelt together, 30 of those years in Monona County, where their children were born and raised and were the best years of their labor were spent. Five children were born to them and are living today. They are; Mrs. Amy York, MRs. Martin Mortensen, and Adam Bellis, all of Castana, Iowa and Mrs. Bessie Mason of Wilburton, Kansas, and Mrs. Olive Perkins of Imogene, Iowa. She leaves 28 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Two brothers survive her, Jerry F. Cozad and George Cozad of Shenandoah, Iowa and three sisters, Mrs. Joh Potts living in Oklahoma, and Mrs. Jack Wellwood, in California. For the past three years she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. John Perkins, of Imogene, except for several periods she spent among her children at Castana. Her death came as a result of gradually enriching infirmities of age and she passed away peacefully and in the faith of her Lord. When a girl she united with the Methodist Church in a community near Red Oak, Iowa. After her marriage and removal from the community the soviet was discontinued and she lost the record of her membership, In September 1933, she expressed a desire to have a church home, and be identified with God's people. A service was held in the home, a t her bedside. Friends came, humans were sung, scripture was read, prayers made, and at her request she was baptized the sacrament of the Lord's Supper was administered to her, and she was received into the Methodist Episcopal Church and her name entered on the roll at Imogene. She loved to read her Bible, she trusted her Savior, and looked for the city that hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. On November 8, 1934, after a short service at the home in which she passed away, her remains were taken to her home town, Castana, Iowa, where her funeral was held from the Community Church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. O. F. Howard, of the Methodist Church at Imogene and her body was laid away beside that of her husband in the Castana Cemetery. The pall bearers were her grandsons, Jack and Tom Perkins of Imogene, Albert and Clifford of York, and Roy Bellis of Castana.
