Brown, 73, died at his home on East Taylor Street on Sunday at 5:20 a.m., death resulting from an extended illness of complications. The deceased was born at Paoli, Indiana on February 12, 1864 and was one of six children of Abram and Naomi Brown. She he was six months old, the family moved to New London and at the age of ten years, he moved to Kokomo where he since resided. He was married August 21, 1887 to Ida E. Bass and to them were born four children, all of whom survive. The wife preceded hm in death on April 9, 1924. Mr. Brown had taught school 12 years and was one of the first graduates of the old Kokomo Normal School in 1883. There is only one surviving member of this class, that being Mrs. Kern, widow of Senator John Kern of Indianapolis. Mr. Brown operated a barber shop on North Buckeye Street for 32 years, retiring several years ago. He was widely known in Kokomo and Howard County and was a highly respected citizen. Children surviving are: Earl P., Fern, Raymond, and Faith. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. C. H. Jackson of Marion, assisted by the Rev. W. C. Irvin of Anderson. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may call at any time after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
