He was born Sept. 8, 1925 in Prague, NE to Andrew and Agnes (Schultz) Woita. Dick grew up at Weston, NE. During WWII he worked at Swift Packaging in Omaha and Nebraska Ordinance Plant at Mead, NE. June 6, 2015 at Southlake Village Rehab & Care Center in Lincoln, NE. He was born Sept. 8, 1925 in Prague, NE to Andrew and Agnes (Schultz) Woita. Dick grew up at Weston, NE. During WWII he worked at Swift Packaging in Omaha and Nebraska Ordinance Plant at Mead, NE. He then started farming helping his parents. He later came to Fremont and worked at Montgomery Wards and in 1950 started at Hormel. Dick married Rosanne (Konecky) on Sept. 30, 1947 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo, NE. Rosanne died June 30, 2011. From 1971 until his retirement he was Chief Steward of Amalgamated Union of Meat Cutters (UFCW). Dick was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #1497 all of Fremont. In 2003 he was Inducted into the Nebraska State AFL-CIO Labor Leaders Hall of Fame. He loved taking care of his yard and farm. Survivors include his daughters, Gerri Morris of Papillion, NE, Diane (David) Brunmeier of LaVista, NE, Karen Coop and Mary (Steve) Cline all of Lincoln, NE; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son Steve Woita; twin brother, Ray Woita and sister Rita Stieren. Funeral Mass 10 AM, Thursday June 11, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Rev. Fr. David Belt will officiate. Rosary 7 PM Wed. June 10th. Visitation also on Wed. from 4-8 PM with family receiving friends from 6-8 PM. all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery Fremont, NE.
