Description	:	Richard was the son of John Holbrook and Eunice Hide. His father was one of the first settlers of Stratford in 1777. In 1780, 1782-1783 he was a Selectman and in 1781 he was Constable. In 1788 his mother, Eunice, was listed as being allowed to select 6th or 7th in the 2nd division of Lots (this suggested her husband had died by this point). Some show that John died in 1788 in Uxbridge, MA and is buried there, but I can find nothing on this. A story about the Holbrook family says that Eunice Holbrook died here before son... Read More	Richard was the son of John Holbrook and Eunice Hide. His father was one of the first settlers of Stratford in 1777. In 1780, 1782-1783 he was a Selectman and in 1781 he was Constable. A story about the Holbrook family says that Eunice Holbrook died here before son David's 1st child was born in 1799. I don't know if she died before Richard's 1st child was born in 1795-96. We also know John was alive in 1782 from a letter Lieut. John Holbrook hand delivered to the state requesting five men under Sgt James Blake be paid for their services in the year 1782. On June 8, 1795 in Stratford he married Rachel Smith, daughter of Caleb Smith and Hannah Wadleigh. His brother, David, married Rachel's sister, Hepsibah Smith, in 1797. Some, if not all, of their children were Tabitha, John, Abel, Cylena Hyde, and Oren. They also had a daughter, Mary, on Mar 15, 1801 who died the same day. Note: Their son, John, born June 27, 1797 in Stratford is the only child I haven't been able to find if he lived.
