Richard was born April 21, 1925 at Chico, California to Richard and Lora (Dixon) Pfeifer. He moved to Oakland, California in 1935 and was a graduate of Fremont High School at Oakland. Read More	******************************************** Richard A. “Dick” Perry, 87 years, of Fremont, NE died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. Richard was born April 21, 1925 at Chico, California to Richard and Lora (Dixon) Pfeifer. He moved to Oakland, California in 1935 and was a graduate of Fremont High School at Oakland. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 6, 1942 and served in the Asiatic Pacific as an Aviation Electronic Technician’s Mate 1st Class. He returned to the states and was discharged on June 21, 1946. Richard married Mildred Cavanaugh on November 22, 1945 at St. Anthony’s Church in Oakland, CA. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserves and served from September 23, 1946 to Aug. 22, 1951. Richard moved to O’Neill, NE and was employed as a clerk at the U.S. Post Office for 7 years and then transferred to the Railway Mail Service. In 1955 he moved to Fremont and worked as an insurance agent for the Jack Foy Agency and later for Security Mutual Life. He retired in 1990. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1497; and member of V.F.W. Post #854 all in Fremont. He was a member of the Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans and AVP Coos Bay Reunion Association. He is survived by sons & daughters-in-law, Dr. Richard and Evelyn Perry of Conroe, TX, Michael and Nerida Perry of Omaha, Keith and Carol Perry and Kelley & Susan Perry all of Fremont and Patrick & Joy Perry of Kansas City, MO; daughter & sons-in-law, Gigi and John Harrington of Ralston, NE and Michael Reis of Fremont; sister, Lou Ann Perry of Fremont; 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Lester Perry, Sr.; wife, Mildred, who died Feb. 7, 2003; daughters, Regina Reis and an infant daughter, Mitzi; and brother, Lester Perry. Funeral Mass will be 10 AM, Friday, July 20th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont. Father David Belt will officiate. Rosary/Vigil Service will be at 7 PM on Thursday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home and on Friday at church 1hr prior to service. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. Military graveside service will be conducted by members of the Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W. Post #854 and American Legion Post #20. Memorials may be given to the Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice.
