Richard Alan Ketelsen was born April 8, 1953, at Mercy Hospital in Anamosa, the son of Richard and Ann (Tobiassen) Ketelsen. He started school in Olin, and later attended school at Monmouth. In 1962, the family moved to Monticello, where he finished his education, graduating in 1971. Rick then attended Kirkwood Community College, where he received a diploma in auto collision repair. He then worked for Sindt Motors in Dubuque, and later at Schoon Chrysler Plymouth & Dodge. Richard A. Ketelsen and Jessica Oellrich were married July 15, 1978, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home in Marion, where Rick worked at Johnny Ketelsen Recreational Vehicles. They later lived in Cedar Rapids, where he worked for Collins. The couple had lived at Whittier, where Rick was self-employed in auto repair. Rick was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Monticello. He was also a member of Eastern Iowa Mustangs and the Central Plains Region Mustang Club. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Kimberly; a son, Michael; a stepson, Jamie; his mother, Ann Ketelsen of Monticello; a sister, Nancy Merrill of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Gene Ketelsen of Center Point and Ron Ketelsen and Mark Ketelsen of Monticello; and his paternal grandmother, Fredda Ketelsen of Center Junction. He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents. Casketbearers were Dennis Ketelsen, Stanley Morning, Dennis Feldman, Ken Ketelsen, Raphael Hall, Ken Bohlken, Doug Schoon and Dan Schoon. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of the arrangements.
