Description	:	RICHARD A. SUTTON, 78, of Winfield, passed away Friday morning, February 20, 2009 at the William Newton Hospital in Winfield. Born April 8, 1930 in Dexter, Kansas, he was the son of Roy and Anna (Glass) Sutton. He was raised and received his education in Dexter. SUTTON, 78, of Winfield, passed away Friday morning, February 20, 2009 at the William Newton Hospital in Winfield. Born April 8, 1930 in Dexter, Kansas, he was the son of Roy and Anna (Glass) Sutton. He was raised and received his education in Dexter. Richard was united in marriage to Beverly Joann "Jo" Sutton on November 17, 1956 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. To this union four children were born. Mrs. Sutton preceded him in death on December 20, 2007. As a young man, Richard worked for Floyd Davis as a night service manager. He then went to work for Smith and Noon setting forms for steel fabrication before joining the United States Army on August 4, 1953. He served his country in the US Army until being honorably discharged on May 24, 1955, when he transferred to the United States Army Reserve. Richard worked for Tubs in Arkansas City as the shop foreman and then began his career with Boeing Aircraft and retired on April 30, 1992. He enjoyed hunting rabbit and quail in his younger years. He also enjoyed tinkering with anything he could. He loved his family and spending time with them. He especially loved his power tools and was a tool fanatic. His family includes: His sons: Roger Sutton and wife, Pam of Winfield; Darrell Sutton and wife, Terri of Dewey, OK; and Mitchell Sutton and wife Mary of Burden; His daughter: Linda Gotthard and husband, Richard of Rose Hill; His 10 grandchildren: Tonya, Rebecca, Samantha, Brandy, Jennifer, Michael, Kelly, Lindsey, Richard and Kaitlyn; His 9 great-grandchildren: Aiden, Ethan, Brandon, William, Braden, Destiny, Aaron, Aliyeah and Ashton; and His 3 step-great-grandchildren: Abigaile, Spencer and Thomas. In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Orion "Bud" Sutton and his sister, Juanita Sponberg. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Rose Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 to 9 P.M. Memorials have been established in Mr. Sutton's name for the Parkinson's Research Foundation and for the Wesley Nurse's Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
