Richard Araujo, 37 years of age, of Minden, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 as the result of a single car motor vehicle accident, east of Kearney, Nebraska. Richard was born September 29, 1980 at Holdrege, Nebraska, the fourth of five children born to Pedro Felix “Pete” and Linda Sue (Hilker) Araujo. He received his primary education and then attended Southern Valley High School, graduating with the class of 1999. Richard worked for Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege. Richard was an avid Husker Football fan and loved fishing, hunting, boating, playing pool, golfing and spending time at the lake with family and friends. Family was most important to Richard, and especially enjoyed all of the time spent with his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three uncles: Cruz Araujo, Jr., Richard (Dick) Araujo, and Marcus Araujo; aunt, Carol Sorenson; and cousins: Eddie Sorenson and Shane Little. He leaves to celebrate his life; two brothers: Joe Araujo of Holdrege, Nebraska and Shane Araujo and his wife, Michelle of Oxford, Nebraska; two sisters: Dana Johnson and her husband, Gene of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Joy Voet and her husband, Larry of Ravenna, Nebraska; nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and nephews; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, with the family greeting friends from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 23 at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
