Richard Carl Dimick, son of Charlie and Ruth (Ninnemann) Dimick, was born on May 5, 1939, at home near Academy, SD. Read More	Richard Carl Dimick, 76, of Platte, SD passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Platte Health Center Avera. Richard Carl Dimick, son of Charlie and Ruth (Ninnemann) Dimick, was born on May 5, 1939, at home near Academy, SD. He passed away on July 14, 2015, after vehemently battling congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease the last several years of his life. Richard grew up on a small farm near Academy. Putting in a hard day’s worth of work was taught at a very young age. As the only son in the family, Richard and his father worked the farm, while his three sisters primarily helped his mom with housework. He was surrounded by women most of his life, starting with his wife and companion of over 57 years Janice Faye (Ringling) Dimick. They were married on October 29, 1957, and were blessed with six daughters. Richard attended the United Church of Christ and grade school in Academy and Platte High School. Richard provided for his family by working at Carter’s Carpet, Turnis Farm Trucking, and John Deere Implement. Richard found his passion working as a farmhand, along with feeding cattle while being employed by his father-in-law, H.T. Ringling. Later in life, he worked as a meat cutter at The Platte Locker and also in grocery stores in Mapleton, IA, Chamberlain and Scotland, SD, and Salt Lake City, UT. He was a member of the Olive Presbyterian Church in Platte. He was a strong-willed, dry-witted, proud man who dearly loved his family. He will be sorely missed. Grateful for having shared in Richard’s life: his wife, Janice Dimick of Platte, SD; his six daughters: Darla Scribner (John Adam) of Scotland, SD, Lorna (Kent) Sprik of Salt Lake City, UT, Debra (Charles) Klosterman of Brighton, CO, Barbara (Keuaine) Sopoaga of Monterey, CA, Carla Fobbs of South Jordan, UT and Audra (Case) Blom of Platte, SD; his sister, Darlene (Don) Adamson of Chamberlain, SD; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Nelda Dimick and Lucille (Dimick) Peters.
