VAN WEY MARION - Richard C. "Van" Van Wey, 79, Marion, died 11:12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus. Born July 31, 1920 in Marietta, he was the son of Robert William and Cora Jane (Willis) Van Wey. On June 10, 1973, in Marion, he married Donna B. Gingery Van Wey; she survives. He served four years in the U.S. Army and eight years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired as a repair man for the Harruff Tire Store after working eight years. Sharing in his wife's grief are two sons, Ronald Van Wey of Marietta, and Gary Van Wey of Orlando Fla.; 10 daughters, Bevery Van Wey, Brenda Gilbert, Betty Van Wey, Becky Tanner, all of Marion, Bard Ford, Florida, Carol Treadway, Marietta, Gloria Grimes, Florida, Sally Lee, Marietta, Kathy Sumpter, Arkansas; three step-daughters, Anita Smith, Vicki Johnston and Lynda Schrader, all of Marion; 29 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; and several family members in the Marietta area. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Van Wey and two grandchildren, Irey Eugene Walker Jr. and Bonnie June Walker. Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Oceola Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Woods-Henderson officiating. Arrangements were handled by Boyd Funeral Home.
