In 1950, Richard was a watch repairman at James Jewelers in Cedar Rapids, Iowa until March 27, 1951, when he joined the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged March 26, 1955. Deaver Sr., 67, died April 20, 1997, at a local hospital. He was a retired engineering technician for Rockwell International. A memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday at the First Christian Church, 16 E. Platte Avenue, with the Rev. Gay Hatler and Shelley Garrison officiating. Funeral services were held at Noelridge Park Christian Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with burial at Cedar Memorial cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Swan Law Funeral directors handled the arrangements. Mr. Deaver was born June 20th, 1929, in Cedar Rapids to R. Wiley and Beulah (Davis) Deaver, who are deceased. He was married October 1st, 1950, to Alice Juanita Tomanka, who lives in Colorado Springs. He is also survived by two sons, Richard C. of Littleton, and Robert C. of Rocklin, California; two brothers, David of Cedar Rapids, and Robert of Half Moon Bay, Calif., and four grandchildren. Mr. Deaver graduated from the Kansas City School of Watchmaking. He served in the Air Force for four years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was awarded the National Defense Service and Good Conduct Medals. He was a member of the Argonauts, a Deacon at the First Christian Church, and a member of the USAFA Colorado Parents Club. Mr. Deaver was a loving, devoted and giving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a dedicated genealogist and avid bridge player. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 16 E. Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
