Per funeral home director, Jeff Nathan (Oliver Nathan Funeral Home), Richard was disinterred from Memory Gardens on 09/19/2015 and buried at Zion Lutheran next to his wife, Alma. ~ Richard Charles Hager was born December 11, 1920, the youngest child and only son of George and Coral (Codding) Hager. Dick was born on the Homewood Farm in Green Township, ND, which was homesteaded by his grandparents. He graduated from Green School and then attended the University of Minnesota. Dick was born on the Homewood Farm in Green Township, ND, which was homesteaded by his grandparents. He graduated from Green School and then attended the University of Minnesota. Dick returned to the farm and began his lifelong career as a dairyman and farmer. On November 4, 1945, he married Alma June Borg in Sanborn, ND. They lived on their farm for 62 years before moving into Valley City in 2007. Following Dick's retirement from farming, he enjoyed woodworking and traveling with Alma. Dick had a personal faith and trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, rural Valley City. He was a very civic and social minded man. He served on church, school, business and township boards and was a member of various agricultural and social organizations. He died at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City on December 17, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alma of Valley City; children: Holly (Jerry) Thorpe of Tucson, AZ, Tim (Becky) Hager of Valley City; and Deborah (Bill) Galley of Kansas City, MO; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a large extended family. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Clarice, Harriett, Evelyn, and Florence.
