In 1963, he joined the Navy Reserves as... Read More	Richard Curzon Seaman, Sr. was born October 6, 1925 in New York City, New York to Joseph L. and Miriam Zigler Seaman. He received his education through eighth grade in Catholic Schools in New York. He once told me he grew up in "Hell's Kitchen" and that it was a tough place to live. He received his high school diploma while serving in the Navy. He joined the Navy at age 17. He served in World War II and the Korea War with the Armed Guard. He was discharged in 1952. In 1963, he joined the Navy Reserves as a Seabee serving until 1975. He was commander of the U.S. Naval Cadets Nebraska 739 Division in Omaha at the time of his death. Rich married my Aunt Lois Ardele Siercks on February 1, 1947 in Los Angeles County, California. They moved back to Blair, Nebraska and had two children Richard C. Seaman, Jr. and Shelly Rochelle Seaman. Lois and Rich later divorced. In the late 1970's and early 1980's he attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha for three years, studying art, sculpting and photography. On March 13, 1964, he married Shirley Ackerman at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. They made their home in Blair until 1972 when they purchased Woodrich's Tavern and established Seaman's Package Liquor Store. They operated the store until 1975. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Tekamah. He was also a member of the Tekamah Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3304 for many years and was a member of the Blair VFW Post No. 1251 at the time of his death. He also belonged to the Navy League and the Big Red Sub Club. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Tekamah; a son, Dan Seaman, Roosevelt Road Naval Air Station, Ceiba, Puerto Rico; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Harvey Hogancamp of Omaha and a brother, Joseph Seaman of North Hollywood, California; son Rick Seaman, Jr. and daughter Shelley Seaman Reams ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ May your spirit be with the Lord
