Description	:	Richard D. Best, 74, of Wymore, died Friday night, November 22, 2013 at the Wymore Good Samaritan Center. He was born on February 2, 1939 in Omaha and at an early age moved with his parents to Kearney. He moved to Liberty to live with his grandparents and graduated from high school in 1957. Best, 74, of Wymore, died Friday night, November 22, 2013 at the Wymore Good Samaritan Center. He was born on February 2, 1939 in Omaha and at an early age moved with his parents to Kearney. He moved to Liberty to live with his grandparents and graduated from high school in 1957. On April 6, 1957 he married Natalie Goin in Kearney. For 35 years he worked as a telegrapher/depot agent and engineer for Burlington-Northern Railroad. He was a former member of Eagles Aerie #3909 of Crete and currently a member of Eagles Aerie #531 of Beatrice. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen. They enjoyed going to Edinburg, Texas for 16 years during the winter, camping, fishing, traveling and Husker football. Survivors include his wife, Natalie Best of Wymore; two daughters, Tami Highstreet and husband Jeff of Lincoln and Jamie Fuller and husband Mark of Beatrice; four granddaughters, Heather Phillips of Lincoln, Cassie Walters and special friend Jay Osdel of Lincoln, Jill Fuller and special friend Joe Vraspir of Beatrice and Meagan Johnson and husband Andrew of Beatrice; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Best, Jr and wife Barbara of Petersburg and Russell Best and wife Lisa of Kansas; one step-brother, Henry Best of Litchfield; two sisters, Mary Jean Schroeder and husband Mike of Rockport, IL and Opal Mae Ostrom of Neosho, MO; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Marjorie Welch Best, grandparents, George and Opal Moore, one daughter, Terri Ann Best, who died in 1978, two sisters, Rose Mary Fisher and Jeannie Serr and a step-sister, Gladys. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Wymore Church of Christ with Clayton Lundstedt and Gail Portenier officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the church. Inurnment of the cremains will be at the Liberty Cemetery at Liberty, Nebraska. A memorial has been established to the family's choice. Cremation has taken place and there will be no viewing, but a register book will be available Tuesday, November 26th from 8:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
