From at least 1935 to 1940, the family lived near Craig, Nebraska. All his family were born in Nebraska. The 1940 US Census lists: Howard G. Curley, 35, head, farmer Edith O. Curley, 35, wife Robert G. Curley, 14, son Lyle D. Curley, 10, son He was married on September 30, 1951 in Tekamah, Nebraska to Edith L. "Edie" Valder. After their marriage they lived in Colorado Springs, CO, as Richard was a 2nd Lt. in the Army stationed at Ft. Carson there. Dick was a pilot in the U.S. Army from 1951-1954 and served 14 months in Korea, receiving many awards and commendations for meritorious service. Then they lived in other communities as Richard was transferred. Following his military service they lived in Lincoln, Nebraska while he studied for his Masters degree at the University. Then as an certified professional agronomist, Richard’s career took them to many areas of the country including Knoxville, TN, White Bear, MN, Ithaca, NY, Spokane, WA, Prairie Village, KS, Imperial and Holdrege in Nebraska, Topeka, KS, state of Illinois, Goodland, KS, Eldora, IA, and to Fremont in the early 1990’s. They made over 22 moves during their marriage of almost 66 years. Dick was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 50-year member and Past Master of Fremont Masonic Lodge No. 15 A.F & A.M., Omaha Scottish Rite, Tangier Shrine Center, Past President of Fremont Shriners Club, Sojourners Heroes of '76-Joseph Warren Camp Chapter 19 of Omaha, and Eastern Star Chapter 216 of Herman, Nebraska. Richard Curley entered eternity July 11, 2017. His wife Edie sadly preceded him in death in March of this year. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert Curley and Lyle Curley. Left with memories are children: Steven Curley, Christine (Kevin) Finson, Bradley (Glenda) Curley; grandchildren: Erin Curley, Sean Curley, Tyler Curley, Carrie Finson, Megan (Matthew) Buse, Lauren (Matthew) Elwood, and Emma Curley; great-grandchildren: Gabriella, Ivy and Savannah Buse; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be Friday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Fremont with Reverends Bill and Melissa Gepford officiating. Following a lunch, the committal will be in the Craig Cemetery with military honors by the Fremont Honor Guard (American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854). Memorials are suggested to the Stained Glass Window Fund at the First United Methodist Church.
