He was born April 8, 1940, in Waterloo, the son of Frank Joseph and Bessie Howe Mokosak. He married Carol Klingaman on October 17, 1959 and she preceded him in death. He was born April 8, 1940, in Waterloo, the son of Frank Joseph and Bessie Howe Mokosak. He married Carol Klingaman on October 17, 1959 and she preceded him in death. Richard graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1958 and was employed at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as a quality control supervisor for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1992. Survivors include his wife of Waterloo; his children, Richard Frank (Shelly Burkhart) of Urbandale, Steve (Donica) of Bettendorf, and Angela (Brian) Ewoldt of Traer; step-children, Michael (Kim) Zierath of Flower Mound, Texas and Jon Zierath of Grundy Center; eleven grandchildren, Stacey (Andrew) Horton, Dawson Mokosak, Marley Mokosak, Brittany Jones, Brieanna Ewoldt, Brandon Ewoldt, Brett Zierath, Blake Zierath, Madison Zierath, Jessica (David) McKaeg Fontana, Amanda (Michael) McKeag Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Carter Horton, Olivia Fontana, Luke Fontana, Mason Jenkins, and one due in May 2016; a sister, Barbara Eighmey of Iowa Falls; a brother-in-law, A.J. Adams, El Paso, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Adams; a brother-in-law, Jim Eighmey. Services 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 6, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday and also one hour prior to services Wednesday both at the funeral home. Richard will be remembered by his family for his wonderful barbeques he would fix, his love for his family and sense of humor with that silly little smile. He loved to travel and was able to spend the last 23 winters as a Winter Texan in deep south Texas. He will be missed by his many friends but he leaves many fond memories for them.
