He was born Nov. 28, 1905 at Hayesville, the son of William and Florence Hayes Wilkening. He farmed all his life in the Hayesville community. He married Margaret Rohloff April 26, 1930 and she preceded him in death Dec. 2, 1974. He was a Director at Hayesville Savings Bank for 22 years, Township Trustee and Pennington cemetery trustee for many years. He was Mayor of Hayesville for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret, two brothers, Billy and Dale and one sister, Mrs. Katie Goeldner.
