Description	:	Richard Dean Decker Richard Dean Decker, son of Dolly and Reuben Fahrenbruch, was born January 11, 1943 in McCook, and died August 26, 1971, in San Francisco, Ca. at the age of 28. He graduated from Holdrege High School in 1961 and from the University of Nebraska in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Read More	Richard Dean Decker Richard Dean Decker, son of Dolly and Reuben Fahrenbruch, was born January 11, 1943 in McCook, and died August 26, 1971, in San Francisco, Ca. at the age of 28. He graduated from Holdrege High School in 1961 and from the University of Nebraska in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He served three years in the U.S. Army, primarily with the Quartermaster Corps. For one year he was stationed with Headquarters First Logistics Command in Vietnam. He was discharged in August of 1968 as a First Lieutenant from the Presidio of San Francisco, where he served as an assistant family housing officer and assistant Adjutant, making two return trips to Vietnam. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Defense Medal. After leaving the service he traveled throughout South America for nearly a year, spending most of his time in the Upper Amazon region. Richard made friend wherever he traveled and worked. He was greatly concerned with the welfare of less fortunate people both at home and abroad. The past year and a half he was director of the Children's Zoo in San Francisco. He was fond of all animal life and he had a unique ability to gaining the trust and friendship of animals. Richard was a member of the United Methodist Church in Holdrege. He was a devoted and loving son and brother. He is survived by his father, Charles Decker of Elm Creek; his sister, Analice Decker of San Francisco, his grandmother, Onna Moody of Wauneta and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Reuben Fahrenbruch, and his mother, Dolly Fahrenbruch Decker. He was a nephew of Mrs. George Newman, Imperial; Woodrow Moody, Wauneta; Mrs. Carl Pribbeno, Boulder, Co.; and Mrs. Walter Endres, Palisade. Funeral services were held in Holdrege Monday, August 30.
