Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Richard "Dick" Bennett was born on Monday; December 26, 1927 in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. He was the son of:Loren Glenn and Florence "Bell" Bennett. He received his education in Marshalltown, Iowa and graduated from the Granger; Scotland County, Missouri High School in 1946. Richard and his wife: Fern were married on Saturday; April 21, 1951. They made their home in Marshalltown, Iowa where Richard began his career in the tool room at Marshalltown Instruments before working his way up to plant manager. After moving with the company to Oshkosh, Nebraska, Richard retired from Marshalltown Instruments. He also retired from the Iowa Army National Guard after 39 years in 1987. Upon retiring, he pursued his love of woodworking by opening Woodcrafters where he created many beautiful pieces for the people and the community of Oshkosh. Richard was very active in the Oshkosh community in the Chamber of Commerce, the City Council for 19 years, and serving as Mayor for two terms. Dick treasured his family and friends and enjoyed woodworking, golfing, and reading. Richard "Dick" Bennett, age 80, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Tuesday; February 19, 2008 at his home while in the care of his loving family and the Iowa River Hospice. Those left to mourn his passing are: His his children: Denise (Mark) Hulse of Richmond; Fort Bend County, Texas and Curt (Lindi) Bennett of Marshalltown, Iowa. His grandchildren: Amber (Dannie) Stanley of Muncie; Delaware County, Indiana. Cassie (Pat) Riley of Newton; Jasper County, Iowa and Eric Hulse of San Antonio; Bexar County, Texas. His great-grandchildren: Elijah Stanley and Jonah Stanley. His twin brother: Robert (Maxine) Bennett of Ethel; Macon County, Missouri. His other brother: John (Gloria) Bennett of Marshalltown, Iowa. His sister: Florence (Bob) Eston of Saint Anthony; Marshall County, Iowa and his other sister: Louise Rockhold of Keokuk; Lee County, Iowa as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents, his wife: Fern and one brother: Charles. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday; February 21, 2008 at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Friday; February 22, 2008 also at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa.
