Description	:	Richard "Dick" Rieken Sr., 88, of Clarks, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care in Central City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton with Pastor Nancy Spearow officiating. Burial will follow at Bureau Cemetery (Pierce Chapel) near Clarks, NE with military honors by Fullerton American Legion Post #151. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 12th at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton. Dick was born January 29, 1933 to Perle and Delsa (Gibb) Rieken in rural Boone County, NE. He attended rural schools in Nance County and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1952. He enlisted in U.S. Navy in 1953 and was honorably discharged in August 1954. He was united in marriage to Zola Ostrander at Belgrade United Methodist Church on August 3, 1955. They made their home near Clarks and moved into Clarks in 1969. He worked various jobs during his lifetime which included working at Farmers Coop and Strobel Industries. His hands were always busy after work and in retirement. He enjoyed wood projects, fixing small motors, and completing jigsaw puzzles. He also enjoyed hatching and raising his Rhode Island Red chickens and entering them in poultry shows in neighboring states. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church, Clarks Lions Club, and Fullerton American Legion Post #151. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Zola of Clarks; children, Richard (Jeannette) Rieken of Clarks, Raedene (Tim) Lamb of Haymarket, VA, Robert (Jolene) Rieken of Osceola, and Kenny (Lu) Rieken of Fullerton; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and another on the way; brother, Tom (Jeri) Rieken of Norfolk; brother-in-law, Clifford (Carol Phillips) Ostrander of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Betty Carlson of Grand Island; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Kevin Rieken; great-granddaughter, Katlyn Kelley; his parents; brothers, Lyle (Carol) Rieken and Bill (Donna) Rieken; and brother and sister-in-law, Ronald Carlson and Monica Ostrander.
